Lorena Wiebes has once again proven herself to be the fastest in the GP Fourmies. This brings her time as European champion to a stylish close. Wiebes has now racked up 24 victories in 2025. ‘This was my last race in this beautiful jersey. It's extra special to have had such an amazing season as European champion,’ says Wiebes.

Lorena Wiebes: "I thought this was a great race thanks to the rolling course. We went into it with an open mind and everyone was allowed to take their chance. We wanted to race freely and make the race tough, but there were no breakaways that stayed clear. In the final lap, Elena Cecchini created a good situation by jumping in when a duo attacked after a climb. That was ideal for us, because the pressure was on the other teams to close the gap."

"When they were caught with about 5 kilometers to go, it came down to a sprint, and I was determined to take that last victory as European champion. The girls brought me perfectly to the final straight. It was almost the same lead-out train as in the Simac Ladies Tour. We work really well together and I trust them blindly. Barbara Guarischi did a perfect job as the final lead-out. So it was up to me to finish it off."

"I thoroughly enjoyed this season as European champion. And I especially enjoyed wearing my full white sprint suit. I didn't care what the weather would be like today. I was determined to ride in that all-white outfit one more time. It was a wonderful year as European champion, in which I won quite a few races. That's a nice bonus, because you never know if next year will be as smooth. Twenty-four victories in one season is a record for me. But there's no time to enjoy it too much just yet. I'm on my way to Livigno for altitude training. My last road race of the season is Chimay-Binche, and after that I'll be competing in the World Track Cycling Championships. So I still have some goals this season," concludes Wiebes.
