Mischa Bredewold has done it again in GP Plouay. In a rain-soaked edition, the 25-year-old Dutch cyclist was the fastest in a long sprint, beating Marianne Vos. This was her third consecutive victory and a record. No one has ever done better. ‘I was flying.’

Mischa Bredewold: "I can't believe it. I haven't had the easiest few days. I was riding for my grandmother today. We received some bad news earlier this week and I was determined to perform well. The team helped me tremendously. They believed in me and made me feel that. The fact that I crashed didn't throw me off balance. Two years ago, I was also involved in a crash during my first victory. Maybe crashing brings me luck in GP Plouay? (laughs) No. Even after the crash, the team continued to believe in me. They did a perfect job in the chase. Their support gave me wings."

"I know this finish really well and it suits me perfectly, but it remains tricky. I tried to time it right. I approached the final metres at speed, but at one point Marianne Vos overtook me. It felt like she was in the lead for a long time. But I knew I had to keep going and give it my all in an attempt to beat her. Marianne is the GOAT, an inspiration and a true legend. Our sprint battle in the Vuelta was already special. I'm glad I managed to beat her in a sprint this time. Winning the GP Plouay for the third year in a row feels like a dream."

Danny Stam: ‘The GP Plouay is always a tactical race. You know that a small group usually doesn't get away. So it was important to have a pawn with us when the big group took off. With Blanka Vas and Steffi Häberlin, we were well represented. For us, that was a great situation.’

"Once that gap was closed, three riders went on the attack. It would have been nice if one of our riders had been among them, but that wasn't the case. At the end, it was a bit of a gamble and we went all-in for Mischa Bredewold. So we did everything we could to keep the gap as small as possible. We hoped we could count on Mischa to finish it off. And in GP Plouay, that seems to be a given. She rode a very strong sprint. Mischa has made great strides this year. She underlines that once again by now also making history by being the first ever to win GP Plouay three times in a row."
