On a fast, ten-lap, 8.4 km circuit around Glasgow, Lorena Wiebes powered to a thrilling sprint victory, outsprinting Charlotte Kool and Ally Wollaston at the line. From the start, the peloton stayed largely together on the flat but windy laps. Thanks to outstanding teamwork by Team SD Worx-Protime to keep Lorena at the front all day, the European champion grabbed the initiative in the finale, timing her sprint perfectly to take the win.

“Again, a tough race today! Through the city centre you have to push power lap after lap. It was high-paced from start to finish. The team did a fantastic job of keeping me at the front all day. Into the finale, everything was perfect, and I could launch my sprint exactly how I wanted,” says Wiebes.

“We’ve had some bad luck this week with crashes and lost GC hopes because of it. We’ve been fortunate to avoid serious injuries, but wrapping up the week with a stage win feels great. It’s the best way to finish. And yes, we can be happy!”

DS Christian Kos also reflected on the victory:
“This win was much needed. The entire team dug deep to close out the week on a high. We did everything we could to place Lorena in a perfect sprinting position. We’ve suffered our share of misfortune, but ending with this victory is incredibly satisfying.”
