On Friday 26 July 2024, the Olympic Games start in Paris. On Saturday, the cycling programme starts immediately with the individual time trials. A total of seven riders from Team SD Worx-Protime will be in action at the Summer Games. An overview.

Linked cyclists Lotte Kopecky Demi Vollering Elena Cecchini Niamh Fisher-Black Christine Majerus Blanka Vas Lorena Wiebes

Demi Vollering (Netherlands)
Demi Vollering will ride the time trial (27 July) and the road race (4 August). "The Olympics are an important goal for me. In preparation, I worked through an altitude training camp in Brides-Les-Bains. There I was all about training, eating, sleeping, resting and recovering. Everything to arrive at the start of the Olympics in optimal shape. It is difficult to estimate my chances. In the time trial, I don't really know where I stand yet, but top five is definitely in the cards. The course of the road race is not really my size, it suits my teammate Lorena Wiebes better. But who knows, maybe I can play a role by being in the breakaway."

Lorena Wiebes (Netherlands)
Lorena Wiebes is one of the top favourites for the road race (4 August). "The Olympics are a main goal in my career. I am going for gold. I will find a course in Paris that should suit me. I prepared for the Olympics by spending three weeks in an altitude chamber at Syncrosfera and training alongside it in the Spanish heat. In the Baloise Ladies Tour, I felt the form is really good. I drew a lot of confidence from my five wins. In the final weeks towards the road race, I now want to add those last few percent to my form with some targeted training sessions. It would be a dream to become an Olympic champion."

Lotte Kopecky (Belgium)
Lotte Kopecky will be in action in the time trial (27 July), the road race (4 August) and the omnium (11 August). "An Olympic medal is still missing from my palmares, so it goes without saying that is my goal. The Olympics, together with Paris-Roubaix and the world championships, are my main goals this season. I therefore planned my year so that I could optimally prepare for Paris 2024. I chose the Giro d'Italia in function of the Olympics. The fact that I was competing for the overall win until the last day shows that my form is good."

Elena Cecchini (Italy)
Elena Cecchini will compete in the road race on 4 August. "It is an honour to compete for the Italian team. I have very fond memories of the Rio2016 Olympics. I missed the Tokyo 2020 edition and had made it a goal to be there again in Paris. Fortunately, I felt supported by Team SD Worx-Protime, which let me ride a programme to earn my selection. Every time I put on the Italian shirt, I feel a lot of pride. I hope to help Italy get a medal."

Christine Majerus (Luxembourg)
Christine Majerus will ride the road race on 4 August. "This is my fourth and last Olympic Games. I really wanted to participate in this edition. I considered participating in the Paris Summer Games as the last important goal of my career. The form is good. It will be extra special for me as I have lived in the region of Paris these last years. I already explored the course several times. I will enjoy my fourth participation in the world's biggest sporting event."

Blanka Vas (Hungary)
Blanka Vas will participate in cross-country mountain biking (28 July) and road racing (4 August). "I like to combine different disciplines. I get a lot of energy from that. I participated in the Tokyo Olympics for the first time and keep fond memories of my fourth place in the mountain bike race. I am looking forward to combining both disciplines in Paris. My focus has shifted towards road cycling in recent years. So I will go into the mountain bike race with an open mind and try to enjoy myself. Then I'll see how far it takes me. My main goal in Paris is the road race."

Niamh Fisher-Black (New Zealand)
Niamh Fisher-Balck will take part in the individual time trial (27 July) & the road race (4 August). "The stage win in the Giro d'Italia was a confirmation for me that I have been working well to be ready for the Olympics. Everyone wants to arrive at the start in top form. It's only once every four years and it's an honour to compete for your country. I don't really find a course to my size, but I'm going to try to get everything out of it."
