The stage in and around Zeewolde was dominated from start to finish by Team SD Worx-Protime. The Dutch World team broke up the peloton after 56 kilometres and was therefore present with seven riders in the leading group of 22. The red carpet was rolled out for Lorena Wiebes, who beat everyone in the sprint for the second day in a row. Lotte Kopecky made it a 1-3 by finishing third on the podium after giving Lorena a perfect lead-out. In doing so, she amassed important seconds for the general classification. ‘This was a very nice day in which the entire team did a great job. It's special to get such a win with the team,’ said winner Lorena Wiebes.

Sports manager Danny Stam: ‘I am very satisfied after today's ride. In the beginning there was nervousness, but it didn't break into pieces. After 56 kilometres, we then tried to break it and that worked out well. It was nice that the rest of the breakaway also kept working well at the front. Our riders delivered Barbara Guarischi, Lotte Kopecky and Lorena Wiebes well on the last roundabout 500 metres from the end, after which it was up to that trio. Who then finished it off nicely.’

Lorena Wiebes: ‘It was quite a tough race. We worked hard to maintain our lead, because behind us teams were also chasing who had missed the battle. At five kilometres from the end, we consulted among ourselves and with the team leader's car, after which it was decided to pull my card. I was brought perfectly. When I saw it was 200 metres to go, I went on. This was perhaps just that tad too early, but fortunately I was able to hold off everyone. That we ended up finishing one and three only makes it more beautiful.’

Sports manager Danny Stam: ‘’Thanks to her third place, Lotte Kopecky is approaching to within three seconds of leader Zoë Backstedt. Lorena Wiebes is now at 20 seconds. So we're in good shape in the general classification, but there are still three tough days ahead where we need to stay attentive. The group is getting smaller and smaller and that makes it easier to control.’

‘It's nice that with this 65th win we break last season's record. We never thought at the beginning of the season that it was possible to match it, let alone break it. It's another ultimate season,’ Stam said.
