Team SD Worx - Protime started the Vuelta España Femenina with a third place in the team time trial. The team lost one second on winner Lidl-Trek and Visma | Lease a Bike. "I think we rode a good team time trial and can look back on this overture with satisfaction," sports manager Danny Stam indicated.

That the difference is only one second does not add to Stam's disappointment at missing out on the stage win. "We also have to be so honest that if Ellen van Dijk from Lidl-Trek didn’t fall in the last kilometre the difference would be bigger. We did catch up with them slightly at the end, but we would never have made up the gap at the first intermediate point of 13 seconds. We have to be that realistic."

Stam saw that Marlen Reusser was riding at level again. The Swiss time trialist fell heavily in the Tour of Flanders and is making her comeback in Spain. "As expected, Marlen was one of the engines in this team time trial. She is already at a good level and I think she can only get stronger during this Vuelta.”

Demi Vollering also made a good impression and thus also loses just one second on some other competitors for the overall. The same goes for Niamh Fisher-Black. "She was tasked with not getting into the lead. With her, our aim was not to lose any time. So we came through well with our three classification women. The difference remained minimal. This result gives confidence for the rest of this round."
