Lorena Wiebes sprints to a second stage victory in a row in the Vuelta a Burgos

Lorena Wiebes once again took control of the sprint. The leader in the general classification thus finished off her teammates’ work for the second day in a row. “This finish was more difficult than yesterday because of the uphill section. The team did a fantastic job,” said Wiebes.

Lorena Wiebes: “I’m happy that we have won two out of two stages in the Vuelta a Burgos. Although today was more difficult than yesterday, as the finish was uphill. The team did a fantastic job with Mikayla Harvey & Elena Cecchini, who chased the breakaway all day. Blanka Vas, Barbara Guarischi & Mischa Bredewold gave me a fantastic lead-out.”

“I’m happy with how things went today and with the work of the team. It’s nice to be able to finish it off like that. Tomorrow will be a tough stage with two climbs towards the end of the stage. But with Mischa Bredewold we still have a strong card with fast legs who can survive the climbs. I’ll see how far I can go.”
