Lorena Wiebes crowned Omnium World Champion

After winning the Scratch race, Lorena Wiebes has now claimed the world title in the Omnium at the Track Cycling World Championships in Santiago de Chile. The 26-year-old Dutch rider rode a smart points race and secured the rainbow jersey in the final sprint — her fourth world title (2x Scratch, 1x Gravel, and 1x Omnium).

Lorena Wiebes defends her world title in the scratch race
At the Track Cycling World Championships in Santiago de Chile, Lorena Wiebes successfully defended her world title in the scratch race. In a fast-paced final, she had to dig deep in the closing meters to overtake Amalie Dideriksen. The 26-year-old Dutch rider claimed her second rainbow jersey in just twelve days, having already won the gravel world title earlier in Maastricht. “It was pretty close,” Wiebes said. “Luckily, I was able to time my sprint well and follow myself up as world champion.”
