Team SD Worx-Protime lights up hilly stage in Eneco Tour, Femke Markus successfully completes solo ride in Watersley

Team SD Worx-Protime animated the third stage of the Eneco Tour. In the hilly stage, the riders fired off attack after attack. At the intermediate sprint, Femke Markus took the bonus seconds before riding away solo with 17 kilometers to go. Markus held off the chasing peloton and was able to celebrate her third professional victory. “It’s great to finish it off like this for Team SD Worx-Protime.”

Femke Markus: “I’m proud of this victory. We started the stage with a patient approach as a team, but we quickly felt there were opportunities for attacks. So we fully committed to that. Actually, I didn’t want to go so early at first, but I sensed a moment and thought: I’m taking my chance. But it turned into a long and tough effort, during which I kept thinking: why do I keep doing this to myself? But I do enjoy long attacks and racing like this. To also finish it off is even better.”

“Was I certain I was going to win? At the start of the final hill, I thought I was, but I saw them getting closer and closer and my legs were full of lactate. So I simply couldn’t get out of the saddle anymore. But luckily it was enough. I’m really happy with this victory.”
