24 May.

In the Vuelta a Burgos, Mischa Bredewold, claimed victory in stage three. The Dutch rider beat Mireia Benito after a brilliant team performance by Team SD Worx-Protime. Bredewold attacked at exactly the right moment, bridged across to Benito and managed to stay ahead of the chasing group featuring Lorena Wiebes. Bredewold then outsprinted Benito to secure a third consecutive stage win for Team SD Worx-Protime.  Lorena Wiebes finished third and thus retains her leader’s jersey, ahead of Bredewold and Benito. The final stage takes place on Sunday. “We make each other stronger and support one another so much. That confidence allowed me to make the right decisions today,” Bredewold said.

“I’m really happy. This was a perfect day with the team. Before the stage, I had already marked this one as a goal and I got full support from everyone,” Bredewold explained. “Lorena also helped me enormously. She allowed me to go for my own chance. That gave me so much confidence.”

“The whole team supported me and because of that I was able to make the right decisions and attack at the right moments. I’m really very pleased with this.”

“There’s an amazing atmosphere within the team. It’s give and take. Lorena is truly a team player and the whole team grows with that energy. The support I receive is just fantastic. I’m super grateful to the entire team.”

“Tomorrow I’ll try my best again, but it will be a real climbing stage. We’ll see how that goes. I’m going to give everything, although it will probably be very hard for me. Maybe it’s a bit too much pure climbing for me, but we have nothing to lose.”
