Femke Gerritse will remain with Team SD Worx-Protime until 2028

Femke Gerritse has renegotiated and extended her contract with the team until 2028. The 24-year-old cyclist did not hesitate when the team made the offer.

“My contract was due to end in 2026,” says Gerritse. “So I was pleasantly surprised when, after the classics, the team management proposed renegotiating the contract and extending it until 2028. I didn't have to think twice. This team feels like home to me. In a year and a half, I've made significant progress here. I didn't think I could achieve so much in such a short time. I now feel that I can grow even further.'
 
Sports manager Danny Stam is pleased that Gerritse has signed on for the next three years. “Femke is a team player who fits perfectly into the team and is also one of the mood lifters. She has made good progress over the past year, and we are convinced that she can take further steps in the coming years. Her sprint after a tough race is becoming a real asset. We can certainly expect great things from her in hilly terrain.”
 
Gerritse's highlight was, of course, her stage victory in May at the Vuelta a España Femenina, where she beat Marianne Vos in a large group sprint. Initially, the Vuelta wasn't even on my schedule. Just before the Ardennes Classics, Danny Stam suggested it. He immediately said that I could choose a few stages where I could try for a win. Winning on the third day and getting the red jersey is something I could only have dreamed of before."
 
Earlier this season, Gerritse won both the Omloop van het Hageland and the Volta NXT Classic. 'I feel at home at Team SD Worx-Protime because I get on really well with the riders and staff. Furthermore, I like the open-minded racing style. We always want to set the pace. I love that." During the training camps, the level of our best riders motivates everyone. If you can keep up with the best during training in Spain in January, you know you're on the right track.'
 
Alongside Lotte Kopecky and Lorena Wiebes, Gerritse is now the third rider to sign with Team SD Worx-Protime until 2028. "I get on well with Lotte and Lorena, so it's great that we'll be staying together for the next few years. This year, I discovered that I can still sprint well after a tough race.  I also hope to improve further in the classics. Races like the Brabantse Pijl and Strade Bianche are high on my list.”
