Lorena Wiebes targets stage wins and overall victory in the Tour of Chongming Island

The Tour of Chongming Island marks the final WorldTour race of the season. Team SD Worx-Protime lines up with a strong sprint train consisting of Femke Markus, Femke Gerritse, Lisa van Belle, Barbara Guarischi and Lorena Wiebes. Wiebes hopes to add to her win tally on the flat roads of Chongming Island. “I’m hoping for stage wins. That would also put me in a good position to fight for the overall victory.”

Lorena Wiebes: “I’m starting the Tour of Chongming Island with a good feeling. It’s the final race of the season and I’m hoping to end it on a high note. I’d love to repeat my hat-trick from 2019, although the level of competition has obviously increased a lot since then. The intermediate sprints and stage victories will decide the general classification. I have great memories of racing in China and hope to add some new ones.”

“This race is also a good preparation for the UCI Track World Championships in Shanghai, where I will compete in the team pursuit, scratch, omnium and the madison together with Lisa van Belle. On the wide roads of Chongming, the peloton will be racing at high speed. That speed is something I’ll also need at the Track World Championships. The stages are not overly demanding either, so I should arrive on the track relatively fresh. But first, I’m hoping to finish the season on a high with Team SD Worx-Protime.”
