“I feel at home here and I feel I can still make great strides here”
Lisa van Belle will remain with Team SD Worx-Protime for the next two seasons. The Dutch team has extended the contract with the 22-year-old Dutch rider until the end of 2028, thereby expressing its confidence in the development of the rider from Zoetermeer. At Team SD Worx-Protime, Van Belle has found the environment she needs to develop further into an all-round rider. “When I was asked to extend my contract, I actually knew straight away: I want to stay here,” says Van Belle.
Sports manager Danny Stam has seen over the past year and a half that Van Belle fits well into the team. “Lisa is a young rider who is constantly taking small steps forward. With her background as a track cyclist, you know she can develop even further on the road. She has a broad range of abilities. She should be particularly effective in the classics in the future. I also see her perhaps playing a role in the lead-out train for Lorena Wiebes.”
Lisa van Belle: “I feel that Team SD Worx-Protime offers me the right environment to continue developing. I made my debut in the Vuelta Femenina at the age of 21, and it felt like being thrown in at the deep end. But it turned out to be a crash course that taught me a great deal. I also received a warm welcome, and that feeling has stayed with me ever since. Riders such as Elena Cecchini, Lorena Wiebes, Lotte Kopecky, Mischa Bredewold, Barbara Guarischi and Anna van der Breggen are invaluable to my development. Everyone shares their expertise with you. They guide you, offer advice and pass on their experience. Thanks to that, I’ve already managed to take a few important steps forward.”

“I’ve already learnt a great deal over the past season and a half. I think it’s important to do my bit. That’s why, first and foremost, I want to develop myself as an all-rounder so that I can play a part in even more finals and support the team in that way. Hopefully, in time, I’ll be able to take another step forward and play a significant role myself. So I didn’t hesitate for long when the offer to extend my contract came along. There’s so much know-how, knowledge and experience here that you need as a young talent. Just look at who’s made it big in this team.”
Stam also highlights Van Belle’s potential on the track. She is currently partnered with Lorena Wiebes in the madison. The pair already won a World Cup in April, whilst they also made a strong impression (until a crash) at the 2025 World Championships in Chile.
“You can see Lorena and Lisa growing as a pair,” emphasises Stam. “It’s also great for us as a team when we get to see a pair from our squad in action on the velodrome at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.”
“I think it’s great that combining track and road cycling is possible,” continues Van Belle. “What’s more, there are plenty of people here with track experience, such as Danny Stam, Christian Kos, Lorena Wiebes, Lotte Kopecky and now Mischa Bredewold too. I also believe that track cycling makes you stronger on the road. The madison project with Lorena Wiebes also motivates me. It will only strengthen our bond if, as team-mates, we can win a jersey together on the track. I hope to achieve that over the next two years. I also secretly hope to develop to the point where I can play a part in the classics and help achieve the team’s goals there too.”
