Lotte Kopecky takes her third victory in Nokere Koerse

18 Mar.

Lotte Kopecky has once again left her mark on Nokere Koerse. After a nervous and aggressive race, in which several teams pushed the pace heading into the finale, the world champion of Team SD Worx-Protime came out on top on the uphill finish in Nokere. In a race marked by constant battles for position, late attacks and a sprint into a headwind, Kopecky kept a cool head. She sprinted to her third victory in Nokere Koerse.

This victory clearly meant a lot to Kopecky.
“This feels really good. The longer you have to wait for that first win, the more stressful it becomes. I’m really happy it worked out, and I hope it takes a bit of pressure off. There has definitely been extra pressure these last weeks. You work all winter to show the best version of yourself. So when that first victory finally comes, it feels incredibly good. I was super motivated,” says Lotte.

“The plan was to try something, or at least force a move. But when you have Charlotte Kool with you, you know it’s going to be difficult. At one point I was also lacking a bit of power.”
“It’s quite a long sprint and there was a headwind, so I definitely didn’t want to hit the front too early. I got a good lead-out, although it faded just a little. Maybe it wasn’t the most economical sprint, but I timed it well. This finish suits me.”

“After last weekend I already had a better feeling, even more so than after Strade last week. This is a very nice victory for Team SD Worx-Protime.”

With Milan-Sanremo coming up, the timing of this win could hardly be better.
“It feels really good, a big relief, the first victory is there. I hope it gives me more freedom for the next races. In any case, it gives me confidence going into Sanremo, and I’m really looking forward to it.”

With her third victory in Nokere Koerse, Lotte Kopecky once again confirms her strong connection with this race and gives Team SD Worx-Protime the perfect boost heading into the next major appointment of the spring.
