Record holder Mischa Bredewold chases fourth consecutive victory in Classic Lorient Agglomération 

The GP Plouay, as the Classic Lorient Agglomération is known to the wider public, will forever be linked to Mischa Bredewold. The Dutch rider is the only cyclist ever to have won the race three years in a row. Each of her victories in Classic Lorient Agglomération has held great significance in her career. “For some reason, everything always falls into place for me in this race,” said Mischa Bredewold.

Mischa Bredewold heads to the start of the GP Plouay with ambition. “I’m lining up with one goal: to win. At the same time, I feel a little more relaxed than I did last year. Elena Cecchini recently told me that in Italy they say: there’s no three without four. That really sparked something in me. I want to continue that winning streak.”

Bredewold also draws confidence from her recent Tour de France and Tour of Britain. “I’m carrying good form at the moment. I’m heading to Plouay with a good feeling. This is a very special race for me. For one reason or another, Plouay always has something extra. There’s something special about this race, and that’s why the victories here have always stayed with me,” said the Dutchwoman, reflecting on her three previous wins in Brittany.

"It was an immediate success in my first participation. Beforehand, people told me: this is actually a finish that should suit you really well. I hadn’t really thought about it, but when I looked at the profile, I suddenly had the feeling: hang on a second, I can actually do this.”

“In the sprint, the team put their faith in me, and being able to finish it off like that gave me the confirmation and confidence I needed. That victory meant a lot to me. It was the first major one-day win of my career. Ever since then, I’ve had a special connection with this race. I also believe winning an important race helps you win even more. Less than a month later, I became European champion.”

“GP Plouay was probably the race where I enjoyed wearing the European champion’s jersey the most. I was extremely determined to do it justice one last time in my final race as European champion. Looking at the data, it’s still one of my best races ever. When I think about it now, there has been something about this race every year that has given me a huge amount of energy.”

“I had made it a really big goal to win GP Plouay in the European champion’s jersey. The way it happened is what stays with me. It was one of the first times that I managed to stay with the best riders on a climb. That hadn’t happened very often for me in the WorldTour. Then, in a three-rider sprint, I stayed calm and made it two in a row.”

“Last year, my grandmother passed away during this weekend. I carried a lot of emotion with me, and that gave me a lot of strength. I certainly wasn’t the strongest rider then, but this is a race you can win through determination. It had been extremely tough because of the heavy rain. I had also crashed, but in Classic Lorient Agglomération you just have to keep going. That was the case in the final sprint as well. I rode it entirely on instinct and eventually beat Marianne Vos for my third consecutive victory in Classic Lorient Agglomération. That was also the first time, and a very special moment.”

“Winning here three times in a row gave me a great sense of satisfaction last year. No one can call it a coincidence anymore (laughs). This race has often been the setting for firsts and special moments in my career. I will always have a special connection with it. So I just want to enjoy being back at the start of ‘my’ race once again. It has already been a great 2026, with a stage win in a Grand Tour and the overall victory in Itzulia allowing me to tick off some major career goals. Now I hope to add a fourth consecutive victory in Classic Lorient Agglomération,” Bredewold concluded.
